Gemini

Also known as: Basic Invert, Outside Leg Hang, Scissor Seat

Inverts Intermediate

What is the Gemini?

The gemini is the foundational invert, in which the body turns upside down so the head is below and the legs open in the air in a scissor shape around the pole. It is the gateway to all the more advanced inverts, so it is important to practise it with support and full confidence.

How to do the Gemini

  1. Climb to a comfortable height on the pole and grip it with both hands.

  2. Fold one leg around the pole to create a stable support point.

  3. Engage your core and let your legs begin to rise.

  4. Continue the movement until your body is inverted and your legs are above your head.

  5. Open your legs into a scissor shape to stabilise the pose.

  6. Come down slowly and with full control, reversing the way you entered.

Common Mistakes

  • Lifting the legs with arm strength instead of the core.
  • Opening the legs too early, before the body is truly inverted.
  • Coming down too quickly at the end of the move.
