Crucifix

Also known as: Inside Leg Hang

Inverts Intermediate

What is the Crucifix?

The crucifix pose is performed from an invert, with the legs gripping the pole from the inside and the hands released and opened out to the sides, so the whole body forms a wide line resembling a cross. It requires full trust in your leg grip, because the hands are completely released from the pole.

How to do the Crucifix

  1. Enter a basic invert with one leg gripping the pole.

  2. Fold your other leg so that both legs grip the pole from the inside.

  3. Make sure your leg grip is stable and full before releasing either hand.

  4. Gradually release one hand and open it out to the side.

  5. Release the second hand only after the first feels stable.

  6. Hold the pose while breathing calmly, then return your hands to the pole before exiting.

Common Mistakes

  • Releasing both hands at once before the legs are truly locked.
  • A weak leg grip that loses contact during the pose.
  • Over-tensing the shoulders instead of releasing them naturally.
