Chair Spin
Also known as: Sitting Spin
What is the Chair Spin?
The chair spin is a move in which you sit in the air while spinning around the pole, with one leg tucked under your seat and the other extended forward. It builds on the same grip and momentum as the fireman spin, except this time the body settles into a seated shape rather than staying upright.
How to do the Chair Spin
-
Begin with fireman-spin momentum or from a stable stance beside the pole.
-
Grip the pole with both hands at shoulder height and let your body begin to spin.
-
Bend one leg underneath you as if you are sitting on a chair.
-
Extend your other leg forward and keep your back straight.
-
Spin around the pole while holding the seated shape until the momentum ends.
-
Open your legs gently and land under control.
Common Mistakes
- Letting your seat drop too low, which hurts the spin's pace.
- A loose front leg instead of extended and active.
- Losing your grip on the pole before the spin finishes.
