What is the Front Hook Spin?
The front hook spin is a spin in which the front leg curves around the pole and acts as a hook that drives the spin. It suits anyone who already feels comfortable with the fireman spin and wants to add variety to the basic momentum.
How to do the Front Hook Spin
-
Stand beside the pole and grip it with both hands at head height.
-
Give a light push off your legs to begin the spin.
-
Curve your front knee around the pole to form a hook.
-
Relax your back leg and let it follow the spin.
-
Keep your torso upright and your grip stable throughout the spin.
-
Land gently on both feet as the momentum ends.
Common Mistakes
- A loose knee that does not truly grip the pole.
- Shoulders that tense up instead of staying relaxed.
- Holding your breath during the spin.
