Side Sit
Pole Sits Beginner
What is the Side Sit?
In the side sit both legs are positioned together on one side of the pole, creating a longer, more elegant body line than the basic sit. It is usually learned right after the pole sit feels stable.
How to do the Side Sit
-
Begin from a pole sit with a stable leg support point.
-
Rotate your torso slightly to the side while maintaining the support.
-
Bring your other leg toward the first, both facing the same direction.
-
Keep your legs together and your toes pointed.
-
Hold the pose while breathing calmly.
-
Gradually return to a centred sit before coming down or moving on.
Common Mistakes
- Legs that open apart instead of staying together.
- Rotating the torso too quickly, which hurts the stability of the support point.
- Raised shoulders instead of relaxed ones.
