Body Wave
Floorwork Beginner
What is the Body Wave?
The body wave is a move in which the torso moves as one continuous wave, starting at the chest and finishing at the hips, while the legs stay stable. It is a basic move that builds awareness of torso movement and forms the foundation for many floorwork moves.
How to do the Body Wave
-
Stand in a stable stance with your knees slightly soft.
-
Begin the wave from your chest, moving forward and up.
-
Continue the movement downward through your abdomen.
-
Finish the wave at your hips, with a smooth movement backward.
-
Keep your legs stable throughout the whole move.
-
Repeat the wave at a slow, controlled pace.
Common Mistakes
- A choppy movement instead of one continuous wave.
- Locked knees that prevent smooth flow.
- Too much speed, which loses the shape.
