Body Wave

Floorwork Beginner

What is the Body Wave?

The body wave is a move in which the torso moves as one continuous wave, starting at the chest and finishing at the hips, while the legs stay stable. It is a basic move that builds awareness of torso movement and forms the foundation for many floorwork moves.

How to do the Body Wave

  1. Stand in a stable stance with your knees slightly soft.

  2. Begin the wave from your chest, moving forward and up.

  3. Continue the movement downward through your abdomen.

  4. Finish the wave at your hips, with a smooth movement backward.

  5. Keep your legs stable throughout the whole move.

  6. Repeat the wave at a slow, controlled pace.

Common Mistakes

  • A choppy movement instead of one continuous wave.
  • Locked knees that prevent smooth flow.
  • Too much speed, which loses the shape.
